F statistic

I finally understand what the F statistic means. Although I have been seeing in the output of SAS for the last year under the Proc GLM and I have had previous stats classes I never really got a clear explanation as to what it meant. Our lecture book made it very clear and used a great figure to explain in. I always knew you wanted a large F but now I know why.

it makes me happy to read things like this. :)

it seems a little odd to me that in the ordering of chapters (and topics) in our texts (especially G&E) we didn't move from there right into ANOVA, but we'll just have to trust them and their wisdom in ordering things the way they have.

rest assured, you'll eventually have lots of opportunities to put your newfound understanding of F to use!
